Fabric Notes:
Linen: a natural fiber made from the flax plant. Extremely strong, and considered very ecologically friendly, as it is made from the root, leaves, and even seeds of the plant, which requires little water and no pesticides.
Canvas: a heavyweight weave of 100% cotton. Stiff at first, will relax with time.
Cotton Upholstery: a printed cotton fabric of varying weights; close in texture in canvas, but softer, as it is not quite as heavy.
Ultrasuede: a faux-suede that is made of polyester. Has a beautiful soft hand, and is naturally stain resistant.
Satin: also a polyester, a smooth and slightly shiny elegant fabric.
Care:
Tabletop:
All linen table top items (placemats, napkins, cocktail napkins, potholders) machine washable cold and can be dried in a home dryer on low heat. They are 100% Italian medium weight linen. A small amount of shrinking will occur but products are cut a bit large to help counter-balance shrinkage. If you want to keep the linens more crisp, they can be dry-cleaned to retain that new look. (See dry-cleaning note below.) However, linen becomes more soft, absorbent, and lovely over time, if washed and dried at home. To iron, set on linen/warm (not too hot).
Ultrasuede table runners are preshrunk and can also be washed in a home washer, and should be dried flat or hung straight. If you iron, set on synthetic/warm, and iron on the BACK side of the fabric, where you are less likely to scald the brushed suede surface. Smooth flat on tabletop and runner will look beautiful.
Bags:
Bags are noted on the description pages if they are machine or dry cleanable, or spot cleanable.
Note on Dry Cleaning:
If you dry clean, please try “green” dry cleaning! It is now available in many dry-cleaning centers (even in remote places like our towns in Colorado). The joy of dry-cleaning without the harsh chemicals!
