About

About kate & kate andromeda:
My mom taught me how to sew while young, and she was clever about manipulating patterns for custom results; after years of sewing on my own, I began to also develop my own patterns for clothes & accessories. In summer, 2006, the Aspen Saturday Market was my first venue for sales, and it was a wonderful experience, thanks to many loyal customers! While the intention was originally to sell handmade clothes at the market, trying on clothes outdoors seemed like a bit of a complexity, and there was a lack of table top and gift items in fun fibers. My work experience for several years at an interior design firm here in the Aspen valley also showed me a need and appreciation for beautiful product and generous size…thus, the bags and linen lines were born. Clothes will ideally make their way back in to the line over time.

Q&A

Is your real name Andromeda?
Kate is my first name and Andromeda is my middle name.

Do you make and design everything yourself?
All bag, tabletop and clothing patterns are made by and for kate andromeda, and are produced by me (kate) alone. The fabrics are not exclusive to kate andromeda; they are purchased through wholesale fabric supply. Textile design is a plan for the future; after a wonderful 5 week traditional textile design program in Japan this spring, I hope to incorporate my own designs into future items. Screen printing and block printing are in planning phase now.

Do you make custom items?

For large orders yes, but for small orders, sadly no. The time it takes to develop new patterns or cut fabrics for just one or a few bags is too consuming. However, to keep things exciting, the bags may change over time, and new ideas will be added.

Do you accept wholesale or bulk orders?

Yes! Please see the policy page.
